The Merge

The Merge refers to the Ethereum upgrade that merges Ethereum Mainnet with the Beacon Chain Proof of Stake system. This marks the end of Proof of Work (PoW) for Ethereum, and the full transition to Proof of Stake (PoS).

The Merge is designed to have minimal impact on how Ethereum operates for end users, smart contracts, and dapps.

Prepare for The Merge

The Rinkeby, Kovan, and Ropsten testnets will be deprecated post-merge. We recommend developers migrate dapps to the Goerli testnet which is due to be upgraded to PoS.
